Grievance

In the world of work a grievance is a formal statement of complaint, generally against an authority figure. Procedures for grievance are common in unionized organizations.

In many countries labor unions typically include a committee known as the Grievance Committee or Griefcom which deals with complaints of members against management.

In an unionized organization, a grievance is a formal complaint against the employer, in written format, usually filed by a union steward on behalf of a member of the local union. It is typically understood as any difference arising out of the interpretation, application, administration or alleged violation of the collective bargaining agreement that is in effect at the place of employment but it can also concern violations of common law, such as workplace safety regulations or a human rights code.

Ordinarily, unionized workers must ask their operations managers for time during work hours to meet with a shop steward in order to discuss the problem, which may or may not result in a grievance. If the grievance cannot be resolved through negotiation between labor and management, mediation, arbitration or legal remedies may be employed. Typically, everyone involved with a grievance has strict time lines which must be met in the processing of this formal complaint, until it is resolved. Employers cannot legally treat an employee any differently whether he or she has filed a grievance or not. The difference between a grievance and a complaint, in the unionized workplace, is whether the subject matter relates to the collective bargaining agreement.

The term is also used outside the work context. A substantial section of the United States Declaration of Independence consists of an enumeration of the colonists' grievances against the "Present King of Great-Britain" (George III). An important part of the American political tradition (guaranteed by the First Amendment) is the right of the people to petition the government for redress of grievances. An example of the federal governments approval of grievance mediation is the fact that the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service makes it's Commissioners available to the Labor/Management community at no charge for grievance mediation.

Flashed back 4months ago:-
Our company has obtained a sizeable project frm a big CM in Singapore. We given a short leadtime and gotta accomplish before the dateline since my big boss given commitment to them.
Below is conversation between him and my boss after gain the project
(day1)
Boss: Koh,makesure you & your team work closely and complete it before dateline.

Boss: Koh,how's status?
Koh: Already complete developing. Now programming to cut and so-on..
Boss: Ok Ok,good

(day7)
Boss: Is everthing smooth?
Koh: Yes,yes.

But infact the entire schedule was'nt smooth as planned.Im worried and whispered actual situation to the boss.

(day8)
Boss ringged him and i was standing beside him.

Boss:Hey Koh,Where are u?Come & see me in my office now!!
Koh :Ok,ok,sir.coming now.

He running to see boss in fast gallop while im chuckling seeing his reaction.
Koh: Yes,boss.
Boss: Can you update me the progress

Koh staring at me furiously as he knows i alr exploded everthing to the boss. Thus he cant hide or continue bluffing.
Koh:Sir,i still developing as my deskstop is very slow,hangs,lousy,etc....Its not me delaying but the computer plus the old CAD program doesnt support me to multitasking the job.
Boss:Why dont you tell me earlier?
Koh:I worry you might thinks i will blame the computer. That y.
Boss:Anyway you still putting blame to computer but not on you now! ok ok.well if i buy you a workstation equipped with lastest CAD sofware does it will help you?

Boss:Ok,i will buy it asap but i dont want hear this type excuses again.

(day14)
Koh starts using workstation plus latest CAD which costs nearly RM30K++..He rushing to catch the time losses but we're still behind the schedule. So i went and approach him.

Kalai: Koh,We're running out of time.u know!! Y so slow?
Koh: Kanasai!! wait la.u think im not working but this workstation is no good lar..My deskstop better then this hor but Kalai,i hv one problem here.
Kalai: what again?Dont ask for another computer.ok
Koh: Since i using two computer,i kinda blurr & confused lar.Dunno where i stored the working files and spend my time to dig/search in both computers.
Kalai:Sigh.U r sucks!!

The morale of story, the more you multitask the more splits your conscious awareness and disminishes your work productivity. Thus pls the manage the time and work efficiently to exhibit more output.

Ultimately, i got this sign frm him after i told going publish about his story .
You're welcome. Its same goes to you,Koh!! hahaha LOL

Indisciplines employees

Do you have or encountered any your employees or staffs who spending more times doing mischievous activity then working?.How you going react on this issue if counter this?
As pictorial shown below:-

" Wait la,sayang.Abg balik cepat nanti" -Hanging with mobile phone while working
"Mmm,sedapnya Tongkat Ali nie" -Work tasks yet to complete but manage drink a cup of coffee

"Malam tadi, aku wrestling dgn laki aku.Tak cukup tidur.Baik aku tidur karang" -Sleeping

After seeing this, are you going scold or take a drastic action on them??Oops pls stop it!.The best way to lead them is by motivating,i think. So how to motivate?Hmm.Just keep saying "u did good job"or other good motivate words at your employee or staff. Its may leaves them wondering what was so great and does'nt encourage or feels to do that again. It's maybe hard to believe but obviously the employees will keen to work and be loyal to you!

P/s: Dear readers, the characteristic in the picture are not real! They're well dedicated employees who enchance our company preformances indeed. This picture was snap to support inline our program to educate indisciplines employess.

My Messy Workdesk

I took a glance look around my desk and realized that i'm disorder.Yea.I'm a messy desk person and gotta admit it. I know people judge me my work based on this.Even knowing this, i can count on people who knows I'm a person that gets a project completed in proper order.Who care what my desk looks like. On most days there are many things that have much more urgent priority to concentrate, that when it comes to deskeeping or filing, it will always loses. But this is not a excuse, ultimately i gotta do it myself.Hmmm.U know at home sincerely i don't clean up my room.I just leave to my mom to handle. So sorry, mom.Your son is really bad.I buy you dinner tonight to compensate you.hahahah

Only my teddy neat all the time!! LOL
